The Welding & Hot Work Module provides hazards and controls for welding, cutting, grinding, and other spark-producing operations.

Hot Work Controls

Fire Prevention

  • Fire watch (during and after)
  • Combustible clearing (35 ft minimum)
  • Fire extinguisher present
  • Spark containment
  • Hot work permit

Respiratory

  • Mechanical ventilation
  • Local exhaust
  • Respirator (when ventilation inadequate)
  • Fume extraction torch

PPE

  • Welding helmet (proper shade)
  • Safety glasses under helmet
  • FR clothing
  • Welding gloves
  • Leather apron
  • Steel-toe boots
